Frank A. "Buddy" Rivers,Jr., 85, of 8 Overlook Dr., died Wednesday,
January 31 at The Meadows of Leicester.
He leaves his wife of 63 years, Claire M. (Tetreault) Rivers, a son Neil F.
and his wife Susan J. Rivers of Spencer , a daughter Paula S. and her
husband Richard V. Levy of Boxborough, a brother Robert Rivers of Orange,
three sisters Rena Tippett of Marco Island, Fl., Jean Joynes of Fla., and
Doris Simpson of Ill., three grandchildren Zachary, Giselle and Gregory
Rivers and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Rivers was a plumbing and heating contractor for 50 years and owner of
F.Rivers & Son Inc., prior to his retirement in 1991.
He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School and was a Navy veteran of WWII
serving in the Pacific.
He was a member of Mary,Queen of the Rosary Parish, American Legion Post 138
in Spencer, and past member of Knights of Columbus, Council 118. He was a
longtime Spencer Water Commissioner, and Cub Scout Leader. Frank enjoyed
playing golf and was a former member of the Massasoit Golf League.
Born in Templeton, he was the son of Frank A. Rivers, Sr. and Eva (Pelchat)
and lived here most of his life.
The funeral will be held Saturday, Feb. 3 from the J.HENRI MORIN & SON
FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Mass at 11a.m. in Our Lady of
the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Burial will follow with Military
Honors in Mary,Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. Calling hours are
Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral. In lieu of flowers,
contributions may be made to Mary, Queen of the Rosary Memorial Fund, 60
Maple St., Spencer, 01562.
