Obituary

WEBSTER – Dorothy A. (Quigley) Bennard, 84, formerly of Thompson Road, died Wednesday, January 31, in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester. Her husband of 56 years, Malcolm J. Bennard, died in 2002.

She leaves a son, John C. Bennard and his wife Carla of Gardner; two daughters, Jane E. Morse and her husband Robert of Brooklyn, CT and Mary Ellen Bennard of Salem; a sister, Marguerite Palmer of Rutland; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Richard D. Bennard of Maine in 1999.


She was born in Webster, a daughter of Nellie (Dolan) Quigley and was a lifelong resident. She graduated from St. Louis High School in 1939 She was the valedictorian of her class. She then completed the course of study at Salter Secretarial School.

Mrs. Bennard worked as an office clerk at Art’s Jewelers until she retired in 1972.

She was a member of St. Louis Church and the St. Louis League of Catholic Women. She belonged to the Hubbard Regional Hospital Guild and volunteered in the hospital’s gift shop.

The funeral will be held Monday, February 5, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main St., with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Louis Church, 14 Lake St. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Dudley. A calling hour will be from 8:15 to 9:15 AM Monday, Feb. 5, in the funeral home. Donations in her name may be made to St. Louis School Endowment Fund, 15 Lake St., Webster, MA 01570.
