GEORGE M. MCDERMOTT a Hull resident for the past 3 years, died on Tuesday, Jan. 30th, 2007 at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth after a brief illness. He was 49. Mr. McDermott was born in Boston and was raised and educated in Braintree. He was a graduate of Braintree High School where he was captain of the football team. He also attended Northeastern University in Boston. For 15 years, he was a machinist for GTE in Needham and for the past 7 years owned and operated Direct Connect Courier Service in Hull. He loved his family, boating, gardening and the beach.
He leaves his wife, Elizabeth A. (Liakos) McDermott of Hull and his two daughters; Stephanie A. McDermott and her partner John Randolph of Weymouth and Stacey L. Kibbee and her husband Paul of Hull. Grandfather of Brianna and Victoria Kibbee both of Hull and Mya Randolph of Weymouth. Son in Law of Samuel and Theonie Liakos of Hull. Brother in Law of Stuart and Donna Goldstein of Weymouth. Also survived by 5 nieces and 1 nephew.
A Funeral Service will be conducted on Saturday, Feb. 3rd at 11 AM at the Panagia Greek Orthodox Church, 817 Jerusalem Rd., Cohasset.
Friends may visit at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham on Friday from 5-8 PM. A Prayer Service will be conducted at the Downing Chapel on Friday evening at 7:30 PM by the Rev. John Maheras.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
The interment will be in the Hull Village Cemetery.
