MOULTONBOROUGH
Leo E. Davis, 78, of Moultonborough Neck Rd. died October 18, 2002 in Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia. He was born in Laconia on July 28, 1924, the son of Arthur J. and Sarah (McGrath) Davis.
Raised in Laconia, he graduated from Laconia High School in 1942. He enlisted in the US Army and served in the European theater of World War II, where he participated in the “Battle of the Bulge” and “Normandy Plus Two”.
Following the war, he returned to Laconia and was employed at Scott & Williams as a machine technician for thirty-four years. He moved to Moultonborough 22 years ago and worked for a time for the PortLyn Company.
Mr. Davis was an accomplished woodworker but was best known as a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a communicant of St. Charles Church in Meredith and was a former parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Laconia.
Family members include his wife of 55 years, Virginia L. (Davis) Davis of Moultonborough; a son, Alan Davis and his wife, Karen of Plainville MA; two daughters, Kathleen Aldrich and her husband Norman of Gilford and Patrice Davis and her husband the Reverend Roger Davis of Brewer ME; 7 grandchildren, Kimberly Duell, Jeffrey Davis, Hillary Davis, Sarah Aldrich, Naomi Davis, Jared Davis, and Kelli Aldrich; a great granddaughter, Nicole Duell.
There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St. Charles Church, 281 Daniel Webster Highway (Rte.3) Meredith on Tuesday at 10 AM. Rev. Gerard Boucher was the celebrant. Burial followed in St. Lambert Cemetery, Laconia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to LRGHealthcare, c/o Gretchen Dandini, 80 Highland St. Laconia NH 03246. The Simoneau & Lambert Funeral Home, 139 Church St. Laconia is assisted the family with arrangements. Timothy C. Molan and David L. Furber were the funeral directors.
