Carlton J. Fowler, 70, of Fitzgerald, died Monday, January 29 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday, January 31, at the Paulk Funeral Home, Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Brent Duncan and Rev. Barry Gordon officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Fowler was born October 13, 1936, in Wilcox County, to the late David Carl and Minnie McKie Fowler. He lived in the community most of his life. Mr. Fowler retired after 40 years of service with the Fitzgerald Water, Light & Bond Commission, having served the last 15 years as General Superintendent. He served in Georgia National Guard and the United States Air Force during the Korean War Era. Mr. Fowler was a member of Crossview Baptist Church and the Esther Sunday School Class. He was a member of the Elk’s Club and was a former Mason.
Mr. Fowler is survived by his wife, Louise Griffin Fowler of Fitzgerald; son, Tony Fowler of Fitzgerald; brothers, Bill Fowler, and Dewey Fowler both of Pensacola, FL; several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers.
