WORCESTER-John F. Murphy, 100, of Worcester, died Saturday, January 27th in his home. His wife of 30 years, Mary E. (Howarth) Murphy died in 1972. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Margaret Howarth of San Carlos, CA; many nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces. Two brothers Lawrence and Walter Murphy and a sister, Patricia Flanagan predeceased him.
He was born in Worcester, the son of John F. and Catherine (Rourke) Murphy. Mr. Murphy was a graduate of Commerce High School. He was employed by the state of Massachusetts as a surveyor and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Mr. Murphy was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church.
The funeral is Friday, February 2nd with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
