Charles E. Spurr, 72, a resident of Stoughton for 40 years, died at the New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton on Sunday, January 28 after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Catherine K. (Keogh) Spurr. Born in Boston, Mr. Spurr grew up in the Back Bay and was a graduate of Boston English High School, Class of 1952. He attended Boston University and received his Master’s Degree in Banking from Rutgers University in New Jersey. Mr. Spurr was a U.S. Coast Guard Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a Vice President at BayBank Harvard Trust Co. in Cambridge where he worked for 33 years before retiring in 1991. Mr. Spurr was also the Treasurer for American Red Cross in Cambridge for 4 years. He was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 331 in the Back Bay.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Spurr is survived by his children, Cynthia S. Favret and her husband David of Sandwich, Charles E. Spurr, Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Weymouth, Christine M. Spurr and her companion Hugo Inclan of CA and Craig M. Spurr and his wife Debra of Lynnfield, as well as his grandchildren, Nicole Favret, Victoria, Connor and Emily Spurr, Jacob Inclan and Ryan and Logan Spurr. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Margaret Maffie, Thomas Spurr and Eugene Spurr.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, February 1 at 9:15 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:15 AM.
