DUDLEY – Colleen E. Harrigan, 22, of 39 Lakeview Avenue, died Friday, January 26, as the result of a car accident on Charlton Street in Oxford.
She leaves her parents, David and Cheryl (Pelletier) Harrigan, with whom she lived; a sister, Kelly Poirier and her husband Brian of Franklin; her paternal grandfather, Joseph Harrigan of Webster; her maternal grandmother, Irene (Mason) Pelletier of Webster; aunts, uncles and cousins; and her best friend, Jessica Boutilette. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Helen (Fitzback) Harrigan in 1986 and her by her maternal grandfather, J. Wilfred “Junior” Pelletier in 2006.
She was born in Worcester and lived in Dudley. She graduated from Saint Louis Grammar School in 1998. She then graduated from Shepherd Hill Regional High School in 2002, where she was on the varsity cheerleading and track teams. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Westfield State College in December, 2006. She was a member of the college’s varsity coed cheerleading squad.
Colleen completed her student teaching practicum at Westfield High School this fall. She loved teaching, being in the classroom and working with the students at this school. While there she was hired as the assistant cheering coach. This was her dream job, to be part of yet another cheering squad but this time as a coach. Cheerleading was a big part of Colleen’s life. From grammar school to college she never stopped cheering or competing in the sport she loved. In addition she loved reading, music and spending summers at York Beach, Maine and Scusset Beach, Cape Cod with friends. She was a member of Saint Louis Church in Webster.
The funeral will be held Saturday, February 3, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main St., with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Saint Louis Church, 15 Lake St. Calling hours are from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM Friday, February 2, in the funeral home.
