PEABODY - Marshall P. Gardner, age 91, of Peabody, husband of Esther (D’Entremont) Gardner, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007 at the Peabody Glen Nursing Home, Peabody, following a long illness.
Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Harold C. & Ethel M. (Nichols) Gardner. A lifelong resident of the city, Mr. Gardner graduated from high school in 1934 and from Wentworth Institute in 1936 with an Associate Degree in Engineering.
Prior to his retirement in 1975, he was employed for over 35 years by the General Electric Company at the Riverworks plant in Lynn, working on airplane engines.
He was a member of Jordan Lodge, AF & AM of Peabody, The Scottish Rites bodies of the valley of Salem and the valley of Boston, and the Aleppo Temple Shrine of Wilmington, and was a member of all of these organizations for over 50 years. He was a founder and past president of the Danvers Fish & Game and enjoyed stamp collecting.
Besides his wife, Esther, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage, he is survived by one daughter & son-in-law, Carolyn & Judson Greene of Middleton, 2 grandchildren, Ian Greene and Colin Greene, both of Middleton and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held Thursday, February 1, 2007 at 10:30 am in the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. Visiting hours are Wednesday, 4 to 8 pm with a Masonic service to be conducted at 7 pm. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Burial is in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
