With family present, Chester died January 27, 2007, at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
Chester was born in Keene, NH on June 26, 1945 to Levi Ralph French (predeceased) and Doris Minkler French of Brandon VT and Zephyrhills FL. Chester lived in Brandon, VT under the loving care of his mother, Doris French Reed and his stepfather (predeceased) Raymond Reed.
Chet had recently moved to CT and resided at the Nutmeg Pavilion in New London CT.
Chester was in the Army (Airborne Division) during the Viet Nam war and prior to that was a mason.
Chet was known for always trying to help other people. He enjoyed cleaning the river banks in Brandon and helping people in any way he was able.
Chester is survived by his loving and dedicated mother, Doris French Reed, his devoted brother, Lester French of Ledyard and his fiance' Patty Fusaro, his brother Ralph French of Brandon VT and his wife Vicki, and a sister, Nancy Fox of Stonington and her husband Frank. He also leaves a very special friend Laura Murphy. Chester will be sadly missed by many cousins, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering for friends and family is scheduled for Friday Feb. 2, 2007 from 6 to 8pm at the Groton Sportsmens Club on Al Harvey Road, Stonington CT. Graveside services will be private at the South Village Cemetery in Westmorland, NH.
