Kathryn L. (Brown) Carter, 88, of New Bedford died Sunday January 28, 2007 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Walter Carter.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Ralph T. and Margaret L. (Birmingham) Brown, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
She was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.
Mrs. Carter was formerly employed as a dietary aide at Sacred Heart Home until her retirement.
She was a graduate of New Bedford High School. She was a member of the Holy Name Women's Guild.
Survivors include two daughters, Margaret L. McQuilkin of Fairhaven, and Anne E. O'Shea of New Bedford; four sons, Robert J. Carter of Assonet, Peter F. Carter of Clayton, NC, Paul J. Carter of Cranberry Township, PA, and David J. Carter of Marietta, GA; a sister, Mary Brown of New Bedford; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
She was the sister of the late George Brown and Gene Brown.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 9 AM in Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
