Lyte Raymond Harper, 65, Ocilla, Georgia, died Sunday, January 28, 2007, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Tuesday, January 30, at the Spring Hill Primitive Baptist Church in Irwin County, with Elder Mickey Harris and Elder Ed McIntyre officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ocilla from 7 to 9 PM Monday evening.
Mr. Harper was born December 28, 1941, in Irwin County to the late Ludy Guy Harper and Edna S. Harper Tucker. He had lived most of his life in Irwin County. He was a retired farmer and Truck driver and former Irwin County Tax Assessor. He was a 1960 graduate of Irwin County High School and attended ABAC. He received his degree in Business from the University of Georgia. He was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Irwin County and also served in the Georgia National Guard.
Mr. Harper is survived by two sons: Brandon (Leslie) Harper of Appling, Georgia, and Clay (Bridgette) Harper of Ocilla; one daughter: Anna (Josh) Branch of Ocilla; two grandchildren: Cody Branch of Ocilla and Hance Harper of Appling; one brother: Ortiz (Janie) Harper of Ocilla; two sisters: Alice (Sonny) Douglas of Baxley, and Margaret (Bob) Young of Kingsford, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his wife: Sylvia Duckworth Harper as well as two brothers: Seymour Harper and James L. Harper.
