WEBSTER – Joseph F. Piasta, Jr., 86, of 5 Emerald Avenue, died Saturday, Jan. 27, at home.
He leaves his wife of 64 years, Rose A. (Sysko) Piasta; 2 daughters, Margaret A. Milas and her husband Richard of Webster, and Susan G. Yurkevicius and her husband Joseph of Dudley; 2 grandchildren, Cheryl and Michael Milas; 3 sisters, Josephine Wagner of Florida, Theresa Zabka of Dudley, and Barbara Nowak of Webster; a brother, Paul Piasta; nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Joseph Yurkevicius in 1993 and by 3 siblings, Dorothy Peters, Cecelia Milas and Walter Piasta.
He was born in Webster, the son of Joseph F. Piasta, Sr. and Anna (Papierski) Piasta. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Piasta worked in the warehouse at Seder Foods for 45 years.
He was a member of St. Joseph Basilica and the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing bingo at Foxwoods.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, Jan. 31, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., with a Mass at 11:30 AM in St. Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb St. Burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace. The Webster-Dudley Veterans Council will provide military honors. Calling hours are from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, Jan. 30, in the funeral home.
