Raymond Bolton, 76, of New Bedford, died January 28, 2007 at New Bedford Rehabilitation Hopital after a long illness. He was the husband of Mary K. (Taffe) Bolton; they were married for 44 years.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Louis Bolton and Doris (Colwell) Morse, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
He was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church.
Mr. Bolton was formerly employed as a watchman for the City of New Bedford until his retirement. In 1995, he was honored by Resolution of the City Council for his 33 years of service to the City of New Bedford. He also worked at Shaw's Supermarket in Dartmouth.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and was a recipient of the Army of Occupation medal while stationed in Germany. He was a member of American Legion Post 459 and the Retired Enlisted Association
Mr. Bolton was unselfishly dedicated to his wife, children and grandchildren. He loved family gatherings, his home, and spending time with his grandchildren.
His family would like to thank the staff at New Bedford Rehabilitation Hospital for their loving care and support during the last two and one-half years.
Survivors include his wife; 3 sons, Joseph R. Bolton and his wife Zita of Bristol, RI, John J. Bolton and his wife Colleen of Cranston, RI, and Daniel F. Bolton and his wife Alisa of Ashland; 6 grandchildren, Matthew, Joseph, Dominic, Thomas, Megan and Ashley; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph P. and Jean C. Taffe of Dartmouth; 3 nephews, Patrick, Michael and Christopher Taffe; and 2 grandnephews, Ryan and Aidan Taffe.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 9 AM in St. Lawrence Church. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting Hours Tuesday 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
