DRACUT - Marguerite "Irene" Perry, 87, a longtime Dracut resident and formerly a resident of Everett, died Friday January 26th at the Life Care Center of the Merrimack Valley in Billerica. She was the wife of the late William A. Perry Sr.
She was born in Lynn on April 18, 1919, and was a daughter of the late Maurice and Harriet (Haley) Devine. She received her education in Lynn schools and was a graduate of Lynn High School.
Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Perry was employed as a chocolate maker by Schrafts Candy Company in Charlestown.
In her free time she enjoyed quilting, arts and crafts, and traveling.
She was a communicant of the former St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Dracut and was an active member and former president and vice president of the Dracut Senior Citizens. She was also a member of the VFW Woman's Auxillary.
She was survived by five children, Peggy Serino of Everett, Valerie Casper and her husband Thomas of Tyngsboro, Harriet Kelly and her husband Joseph of Southerland, VA, William A. Perry Jr. of Dracut, and Denise and her husband Henry, also of Dracut; nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Art Devine, James Devine, Edward Devine, Helen Welch, and Jean Harris and the mother-in-law of the late Tony Serino.
Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT on Monday from 3:00 until 7:00 PM. Her funeral will be held from the funeral home on Tuesday at 9 AM, followed by her Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 AM at St. Mary Magdalen Church, Dracut. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery, Lowell. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Activity Fund of LCC of Merrimack Valley, 80 Boston Road, North Billerica, MA 01862.
