Obituary

WORCESTER-Christine Chipas, 98, formerly of Highland Street, died Saturday, January 27th in Holy Trinity Eastern Orthodox Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. 2 sisters Georgia Papapetrou and Katherine J. Chipas predeceased her. She is survived by nephews, nieces and a caring and loving extended family.

She was born in Louka, Tripoli, Greece the daughter of John and Paraskevi (Kaplanis) Tsipas and had lived in Worcester for many years. Miss Chipas worked as a seamstress all of her life, and was active in the United Ladies Garment Union. She and her sister Katherine were active with the Metropolis of Boston, Philoxenia House and was a long time member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, its Ladies Philoptochos, Daughters of Penelope and was a volunteer for many years at the cathedral festivals. Miss Chipas also served as a volunteer at Holy Trinity Eastern Orthodox Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

The funeral is Monday, January 29th with a service at Noon in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. A calling hour will be held Monday, January 29th from 11:00 AM until the time of the service in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral Family Center, 102 Russell Street, Worcester, MA 01603. O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue is directing arrangements.
