Obituary

Mr. Charles Francis Deehan, Jr., beloved husband of Alyce J. (Gavin) Deehan, a 60 year resident of Medford, Massachusetts, died at the Metrowest Medical Center in Framingham on Tuesday, January 23, 2007, following a lengthy illness. He was 88 years old.
Born in Quincy, Massachusetts, on October 3, 1918, he was a beloved son of the late Charles F. and Helen (Shea) Deehan. Mr. Deehan was the former funeral director of the Torf Funeral Homes in Chelsea and Brookline, serving for more than 34 years. He was a noted Medford Artist, Art Instructor and Past President of the Medford Arts Council. He was also a former member of the Reading Art Association and former chair of the Medford Arts Lottery. He was also a graduate of the New England Institute of Embalming and Texas Technology. Mr. Deehan served in the U.S. Army, entering the service at Quincy, Massachusetts, August 14, 1940, and received his honorable discharge at Westover Field on November 5, 1945. During his military career, Mr. Deehan earned the Rank of Sergeant and had been a Bombardier and also a Radar Observer.Besides his beloved wife, Alyce, Mr. Deehan will be sorely missed by his loving sons and their wives; Charles F. and his wife Sharon Deehan of Natick, Paul G. and his wife Peggy Deehan of Melbourne, FL and William J. and his wife Leigh Deehan of Pittsford, VT, two grandchildren; Lyssa and Gavin Deehan of Pittsford, VT, siblings; Mary Winston and her late husband Walter of Milford, Roberta White of Woburn, JoAnn Jolley of Riverside CA, and Pat Conroy and her husband Larry of Dennis, and the late Paul Deehan and his wife Yvette of Chesapeake VA, sisters-in-law; Eileen Donahue and her late husband William of Bangor ME, Mary T. Gavin and her late husband John “Jackie”, and Helen Gavin and her late husband William of Woburn and many nieces and nephews. His funeral was from the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Saturday, at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, MALDEN, at 9 AM. Relatives and friends were respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours were Friday from 4 to 8 PM. Interment was in Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.
