James Clinton Powell, 77, of Tifton, died Tuesday, January 23, 2007, at Tift Health Care. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2007, in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Rev. Billy Swain will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 26, 2007, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Powell was born on December 30, 1929 in Colquitt County and was the son of James Leffie Powell and Myrtell Paramoure Powell, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Acey Powell; one sister, Pauline Roberts; and one grandson. He was a retired mechanic with Carlton Company and a veteran of the United States Army in World War II.
Mr. Powell is survived by his wife, Margie Easters Powell of Tifton; one son, Thad Powell of Brunswick; one sister, Christine White of Franklin, North Carolina; and one grandson, Timmy Powell of Brunswick.
