Obituary

Richard Parker, 79 died, Sunday Janaury 21st in the Sachem Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in East Bridgewater, after a short illness. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth (Bentley) Parker.

Born in Rockland, he was the son of the late William N. and Mary (Healy) Parker.

He is survived by his brother William Parker, of Hull, his close friend Elaine Howland of Hanson; many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Parker a graduate of Rockland High , class of 1944, Thayer Academy in South Braintree, Burdett School of Business in Boston, St. Francis Xavier University Coady Inte’l Institute in Nova Scotia.

He was a social worker for Madonna House Institute, Ontario, Canada for 11 years and then for the Department of Welfare for 35 years.

He has been a Whitman resident for forty years, where he was a communicant of the Holy Ghost Church in Whitman. He was also very active in many church group activities and as a volunteer for the church.

Richard enjoyed family, movies and loved dogs.

His Funeral will be held Thursday January 25th at 8:15 A.M. from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Route 58 at the Rotary Circle) Whitman, followed by a 9:00 A.M. mass , in the Holy Family Church ,Union Street, Rockland, MA Burial will follow in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Weymouth, Ma .Visiting hours Wednesday January 24th 2-4 and 7-9 .
