LOWELL--Julia (Kafantaris) Fortin, 80 years old, died Sunday October 13th, at the Lowell General Hospital, after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Leo J. Fortin, who died in February of 1993.
She was born in Dracut, on June 29, 1922, a daughter of the late Peter and Angeleke (Mauraidis) Kafantaris, and was a graduate of the Lowell Public School System and Lowell Vocational School.
Mrs. Fortin was employed as an Assembler by the AGFA Corporation, of Wilmington. Previously she had been a head Cashier at W.T. Grants Department Store, in Chelmsford.
Surviving her are a daughter and son-in-law: Rose and Normand Dumais, of Lowell; a son and daughter-in-law: Leo E. and Rae Fortin, of Bradford; five grandchildren: Stephen and Jeffrey Dumais, Christopher, Robert and Leah Fortin; four great-grandchildren: Stephen Dumais, Jr., Vanessa, Michael and Kyle Fortin.
She was the sister of the late John Kafantaris and Anastasia Shurburne.
At the request of the family, private services were held.
