Laconia-Roland Joseph Morin, 87, of 59 Girard Street died on Monday morning, January 22, 2007 at his home after a brief illness.
Roland was the second son in a line of eight boys to the late Alphonse and Leda (Cameron) Morin. He was born in Laconia on February 27, 1919, and had been a lifelong resident.
Prior to his retirement in 1985 Roland was the Fiscal Officer for the City of Laconia for 25 years, and prior was the Office Manager at The Belknap Mill for 20 years, also known to many as the Morin Mill, founded by J.P. Morin. Roland was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Laconia. He enjoyed playing the piano and organ, as well as planting flowers and shrubs.
Beside his parents Roland is predeceased by four brothers; Lorenzo, Richard, Alphonse, Jr., and Leo Morin.
Roland is survived by three brothers; Rene J. Morin and his wife Aurelia (“Billie”) of Gilford, Roger J. Morin of Gilford, and Armand J. Morin and his wife Mary of Manchester. Many nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and grand nephews also survive Roland.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday, January 25, 2007 at Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Avenue Laconia at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends were invited to attend. Entombment followed at Sacred Heart Cemetery Chapel, Garfield Street, Laconia to await burial in the spring in the family lot. There were no visiting hours.
