Luigi L. D’Uva
Retired Tailor

Luigi L. D’Uva, 74, of Mansfield died on Monday January 22, 2007 at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, MA. He was the husband of Nancy L. (Sherman) D’Uva.
Born in Sant’Angelo in Grotte, Isernia, Italy on July 2, 1932 he was a son of the late Giuseppe D’Uva and the late Michelina (Giacci) D’Uva-Mucciarone.
He was educated in Italy where he learned the trade of tailoring. Mr. D’Uva was a retired tailor having worked for the former M.A. Vigorito & Sons in North Attleboro prior to retirement. He had formerly worked as a tailor in both Rome and in Basel, Switzerland.
He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield and was a former member of The Knights of Columbus in Franklin.
Mr. D’Uva loved to travel and visit his native country of Italy. An avid soccer fan; when he younger he enjoyed playing the sport in Italy.
Luigi enjoyed walking and watching television programs pertaining to animals, especially cats. He was also a big fan of the science channel. In his later years he enjoyed cooking, Italian dishes being his specialty. He had lived in Mansfield for the past 36 years and was formerly of Franklin and Attleboro.
Besides his wife he is survived by his children Elizabeth M. D’Uva of Mansfield and Jonathan M. D’Uva of Brooklyn, New York. Also surviving are his many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Carmine D’Uva, Giovanni D’Uva and Lidia D’Uva.
His funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Thursday January 25th at 10:00 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield followed by a mass of Christian burial celebrated at 11:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday January 24th from 5-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
