WORCESTER__William Pechinis, 92, of Worcester, passed away Saturday, January 20, at University Commons, 378 Plantation St. His wife, Mary (Lada) Pechinis died in 2003.
He leaves two sons, William D. Pechinis and Thomas E. Pechinis, both of Worcester; two daughters, Patricia M. Thomas of Shrewsbury; and Carolyn Troy of Worcester; a brother George Pechinis of Michigan; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Jean F. Zoto, a brother, Thomas Carmon and a sister, Ann Markonic. He was born in Worcester, a son of William and Ann Pechinis and lived here all his life.
Mr. Pechinis was a printer, working at Wyman Gordon Co., prior to World War II and later at Melville Shoe / Thom McAn Co., until retiring in 1978. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II receiving two Purple Heart Medals. He attended Worcester Boy’s Trade School. William enjoyed gardening.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 23, at 10:30 a.m. in DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton Street. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours in the funeral home are Tuesday, January 23 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
