
Rosemary “Sandy” Dowling, 64, of Derry, NH, died Friday, January 19, 2007 in the Parkland Medical Center, Derry. Rosemary was born in Malden, MA on January 16, 1943, the daughter of the late Earl and Rose (MacDonald) Sanford. She was a resident of Derry for 31 years, formerly living in Malden. She was very well known from having worked as a bartender for the former Peking House, now Lei’s Garden in Derry for 25 years. She was interested and had participated in Derry politics. Rosemary had a wonderful sense of humor and always proved herself a worthy adversary in a battle of wits. She enjoyed her many friends, her crossword puzzles and reading books on science fiction and mysteries. Rosemary will most of all be remembered for having worked very hard throughout her life to support her family. That she was a very strong woman who did the best she could with what she had.
She is survived by four daughters, Diane Middlemiss of Derry, Christine Dowling of Hooksett, NH, Elizabeth Dowling of Derry, Maureen Cloutier of Manchester, NH, 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Following cremation a memorial service was held on Friday, January 26, 2007 at 1:00PM in the Peabody Funeral Home and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Family greeted friends on Friday from 12:00pm until the 1:00pm service at the funeral home. Spring burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Londonderry Church of the Nazarene Compassionate Fund, P.O. Box 1205, Londonderry, NH 03053.
