Aileen Naomi Clegg, nee Snider, Mrs. George B. Clegg, III passed away October 15. Artist and teacher and loving mother, born June 27, 1924 in Upland, California, she attended Redlands High School and was graduated from San Diego University in 1947 and was a sister of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. Shortly after graduation she married Ensign George Benjamin Clegg, III, a Naval Academy graduate, a native of Warwick, Rhode Island.
Active as a leader in Girl Scouting, a Regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR-Arrowhead Chapter, California,) as well as a representative of the Colonial Dames, Aileen also devoted many years to her hobby, family genealogy, traveling to Europe for lineage information and family members. She was involved in church work and support, volunteering widely in the communities in which she lived: Oxnard, CA, Falls Church, VA, Kailua, Hawaii, Gales Ferry, CT and Redlands, CA.
Recently, she resided at Academy Point, in Mystic CT.
She held academic learning, reading, spiritual development and individual morality in high esteem, teaching and rearing her children to respect themselves and others. And she was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud of her children and delighted by her cats, Puddy and Cleo.
She is survived by her Children, Alicia, Douglas, John and Peter.
A graveside service will be conducted Friday November 8th at the Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington Virginia. at 10:00AM
