FRANKLIN: Robert J. Buffone St. 73 of 148 Dean Ave. died Thursday, January 18, 2007 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Yvette (Guay) Buffone.
Born in Franklin, September 15, 1933 a son of the late Salvatore and Julia (Pettti) Buffone, he was a lifelong town resident. He was educated in local schools, and was a 1951 graduate of Franklin High School. He also attended Tufts University in Medford, and graduated from there in 1956 with a degree in engineering.
For more than 30 years until his retirement in 1994, he worked at the US Army Labs in Natick, as a mechanical engineer.
He served in the US Army just after the Korean conflict. He attained the rank of Specialist 4th class, and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal.
He was a lifetime communicant of St. Mary’s Church, a member of Sacred Heart Council #1847 Knights of Columbus in Franklin, The Franklin Lodge of Elks #2136, The American Assoc. of Retired Persons, and the Franklin Senior Citizens.
In addition to his family and especially his grandchildren, his hobbies and interests included: sports, The New England Patriots, travel and gardening.
Survivors in addition to his wife of 46 years include: a son Robert J. Buffone Jr. and his wife Mary of Wrentham, 2 daughters: Julia M. Johnson and her husband Paul of Blackstone, Jill M. Pisano and her husband Robert Jr. of Franklin, a brother Salvatore F. Buffone of Franklin, 3 sisters: Anne Maguire of Florida, Elynor Crothers and Eileen Tulli both of Franklin, and 6 grandchildren.
He was also the brother of the late Josephine Pasquantonio and Mary Genoa.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral with military honors Monday at 8:15 AM from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage Street, www.franklinfuneral.com with a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Church Sq. Franklin at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
Calling hours are Sunday from 1 – 5 PM.
