Obituary

LOWELL-Wanda H. (Kalisz) Gallant, 81, life long resident of Lowell, died Wednesday, January 17th in Lowell after a long illness. She was the beloved wife of Ralph G. Gallant with whom she was married for 57 years.

She was born in Lowell on December 14, 1925, a daughter of the late Jan and the late Katarzyna (Tworog) Kalisz. She graduated from Lowell High School.

Mrs. Gallant was employed by the Lowell School Department where she worked as a secretary for many years until her retirement.

She was a member of St. Casimir Polish National Church. Mrs. Gallant was an avid reader and she enjoyed the theater, traveling. The joys of her life were her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband she is survived by three sons, Craig Gallant of Virginia, Ralph Gallant of Cotuit and John Gallant of Pepperell; two daughters, Wanda Gallant of Lowell and Kathryn Nemes and her husband Eric of Plymouth; her brother, Chester Kalish and his wife of Eva of Lowell; fourteen grandchildren, Stacy, Stephanie, Barbara, Benjamin, Brad, Austin, Elizabeth and Amanda Gallant, Patrick, Timothy, Ryan, Eric, Emma-Kate and Molly Kasia Nemes; her great granddaughter, Michelle Gallant; her brother-in-law, Robert Gallant and his wife Dorothy; many nephews and nieces.

She was also the mother-in-law of the late Mary Gallant.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM on Monday, in St. Casimir Polish National Church, 268 Lakeview Avenue, Lowell. Burial will be in the spring time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the John Gallant Donation Account, Lowell Firefighter Credit Union, 642 Chelmsford Street, Lowell, MA 01851.
