Obituary







Roy N. Hammond, 77, died Thursday January 18th in the South Shore Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Lorraine (Webber) Hammond.

Born in Stoughton, he was the son of the late Earl and Louise (Sayce) Hammond.

Life time resident of Hanson, Whitman High graduate class of 1948, veteran of the United States Army

Roy was a member of the Hanson Congregational Church, and the Hanson AA.

He worked for Brockton Edison for 41 years as a customer service representative.

Roy enjoyed, card playing, horseshoes, golf , gardening , camping and traveling, he wintered in Florida for the last 13 years

He is survived by his children, Donald and Jeffrey Hammond of Hanson, Mark Hammond of R.I. Elise Long of Lakeville; 2 brothers William Hammond of Kingston and Theodore Hammond of Halifax and his sister Laura Haas of Hanson, 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Tuesday January 23rd at 10:00 A.M., in the Hanson Congregational Church High Street Hanson .Burial will follow in the Fern Hill Cemetery, Hanson.Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours Monday January 22nd from 4-8 P.M., in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street, (Route 58 at the Rotary Circle), Whitman. Memorial contributions may be made to the Old Colony Hospice, One Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA. 02368.
