WORCESTER-Henry A. Flattery, 82, of 15 Papineau Street, died Thursday, January 18th, in Knollwood Nursing Center, West Boylston. He leaves his wife of 52 years, Anna H. (Fitzgerald) Flattery; 4 sons, Stephen W. Flattery and his wife Francine, David J. Flattery and his wife Denise, and Richard B. Flattery, all of Worcester, and John H. Flattery and his wife Terri of Oxford; a daughter, Mary A. Rochette and her husband David of Worcester; 2 sisters, Muriel C. Flattery of Worcester and Sr. Mary Therese Flattery, SND, of Northborough; 6 grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a brother, Bernard Flattery, and a sister, Helen Flattery.
He was born in Worcester, the son of Henry B. and Christina (Basker) Flattery and graduated from St. John’s High School. Mr. Flattery was a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for 30 years, retiring in 1987. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church and the National Association of Letter Carriers, Branch 12.
The funeral is Tuesday, January 23rd, from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 10:00 A.M. in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Monday, January 22nd from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home.
