PEMBROKE-Betty A. (Gurney) Winston, 81, of Pembroke, formerly of 16 Winthrop Street, West Boylston, died Thursday, January 18th in Duxbury. She leaves her husband of 53 years, Robert Winston; 3 sons, Robert K. Winston of Worcester, Brian A. Winston of Boston and Kenneth J. Winston of Needham; 2 daughters, Diane K. Silva of Mansfield and Terri L. Benoit of Pembroke; 8 grandchildren, a nephew and 3 nieces.
She was born in Worcester, the daughter of F. Arthur and Kathryn (Dumas) Gurney and was a graduate of the former Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. Winston served with the Air Force as a 1st Lieutenant during the Korean Conflict, and later as a Registered Nurse at Worcester City Hospital. She was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church and its Woman’s Club, the West Boylston Woman’s Club and the Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing Alumna.
The funeral is Monday, January 22nd from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester Street, West Boylston. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday, January 21st from 2:00 until 5:00 PM in the funeral home.
