WORCESTER-Vasilios Moudios, 70, of Worcester, died Thursday, January 18th in UMass Memorial Hospital after being stricken ill Wednesday evening. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Eleni (Papadopoulos) Moudios, a son, Nick and his wife Erin M. Moudios of Worcester; a daughter, Nickoletta wife of Demos Pirperis of Milford; a brother, Athanasios Moudios of Ammoudia, Greece; 5 grandchildren, Arthur, Jamie and Eleni Pirperis, Elena and Vasilia Moudios; many nephews an nieces here and in Greece. A brother, Kostas Moudios and a sister, Eleni Maringos predeceased him.
He was born in Ammoudia, Serron, Greece the son of Nickolaos and Maria (Raptis) Moudios and came to the United States, March 26th 1966. Mr. Moudios was a restaurateur, owning several local area restaurants for 20 years; he was formerly employed by Wyman-Gordon for 12 years. He served in the Greek Army. Mr. Moudios was a member of the Peter Bell Chapter Order of AHEPA and was a charter member of the Worcester Olympias soccer team. He had a tremendous love for his native country and spent many summers in Ammoudia. Mr. Moudios was a loving husband, father, father-in-law and Pappou; he will be deeply missed.
The funeral is Monday, January 22nd from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a service at 10:30 AM in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial is in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday, January 21st from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
