LASSITER, Captain Thomas M., Chelsea Fire Department, of Ossipee, New Hampshire, formerly of Saugus and Chelsea, unexpectedly, January 14th. Beloved father of Kevin Lassiter and his wife Daniela of Germany, Stacey Lassiter of Peabody, Jaime Lassiter and her companion Jimmy Mulligan and Shaun Lassiter all of Saugus. Former husband of Jo-Ann Lassiter of Saugus and dear friend of Karen Illsley of Merrimack, New Hampshire. Beloved brother of Pam Thompson and her late husband James of Everett and Elizabeth Santarpio and her husband Victor of Lynn. Cherished grandfather of Talia and Jason with a grandchild due in March. Loving uncle of Mark, Stefanie, Nicholas, Jessica, Samantha, Jordan, Zachary and Gary. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral from the Smith Funeral Home, 125 Washington Avenue, CHELSEA on Tuesday morning, January 23rd at 8:45 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Rose Church, 600 Broadway, CHELSEA at 10 o'clock. Visiting Hours in the Smith Funeral Home on Monday from 4-8 PM. Services will conclude with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.

Born and raised in Chelsea, a graduate of St. Rose as well Chelsea High School, Thomas at 56 years of age passed away unexpectedly at his home Sunday.

Appointed a permanent member of the Department on February 4, 1974, promoted to Lieutenant on March 7, 1983 and Fire Captain on September 26, 1988, Captain Lassiter was President of the Chelsea Firefighters Local # 937. A graduate of Bunker Hill Community College he also held a master's degree in Fire Science.

He was a member of IAFF, PFFM and the Boston Gaelic Fire Brigade.
