Obituary
James E. Sullivan, 77 years of Marshfield, died Monday evening at the Merrimack Valley Hospital in Haverhill. He was born in Brockton, the son of the late Daniel and Mary E. (Hamrock) Sullivan. He was a graduated of St. Patrick’s Grammar School in Brockton and Miramar High School in Duxbury. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict; receiving the Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Star and the United Nations Service Medal. Mr. Sullivan was a Foreman and First Line Supervisor for the New England Telephone/Nynex/Verizon for 35 years, retiring in 1990.
Mr. Sullivan will be remembered as a kind, quite gentleman with incredible generosity, grace and good taste. He loved a good project and could fix and build almost anything; as a younger man building a boat with his brothers from a kit and spare parts. He enjoyed anything athletic; skating; hockey; archery and was known as “Robin Hood” during his time in Miramar. His passions were golf, fishing and boating, reading, Irish Music on Saturdays, but most of all his family.
