Bernice C. (Guy) Burrill, a forty year resident of Stoughton, passed away on Tuesday January 16, 2007 at the Southeast Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center in Easton. She was 89 years old. She was the beloved wife of the late Ernest C. Burrill.

Born September 18, 1917 in Providence, Rhode Island, she was the daughter of the late George H. and Carrie L. (Bannister) Guy. Mrs. Burrill attended Providence Public schools and at the age of sixteen, was able to earn her diploma from Providence High School.

Mrs. Burrill was employed as an Underwriter by the former Fidelity Insurance Company in Providence, Rhode Island, and as a Bank Teller for the Canton Co-Operative Bank in Canton,,MA . She was also employed as an Activities Director with the former Norfolk Nursing Home in Stoughton, MA and was later able to retire in 1980 from the former Draper Brothers Company in Canton, MA as an Administrative Assistant.

Mrs. Burrill attended and was a very active member of The First Congregational Church of Stoughton. She was involved with both the Church Fellowship Group and the Womens Club. She was also a member of the church choir and participated in many church functions.

She enjoyed square- dancing, and was an active member of the former Sets-A- Whirl Square Dancing Group of Stoughton. Mrs. Burrill was also a past Most Worthy Matron with The Order Of The Eastern Star in Providence, Rhode Island and held the organizations distinct honor of being its eldest active member prior to her passing.

Her survivors include her son, Peter C. Burrill and his wife Donna of Norton, MA , a daughter, Lynne C. Garafola and her husband Gary of Townsend, MA, her eight grandchildren, Christopher, Timothy, and Ian Burrill of Norton, Keith, Lee, Kimberly, Paul and Jeffrey Garafola of Townsend, and several other relatives and friends. She was also a sister to the late Edward H. Guy.

Her funeral service will be held on Saturday January 20, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. in the First Congregational Church of Stoughton, United Church of Christ, 76 Pierce Street, Stoughton. The Reverend Jean Niven Lenk, officiating. Burial will follow at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.Visiting hours to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend will be held on Friday January 19, 2007 from 4-8 P.M. in the Sheehan Funeral Home, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton.
