Ruth A. (Holstrom) French, 103, of Methuen, MA died Wednesday at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA.
Ruth was born in 1903 in Lowell, MA, she was educated in Lawrence, MA and had lived in Methuen for 86 years. She worked from the age of 14 – 74 at various textile mills and at Nashua Footwear in Lawrence, MA.
Ruth attended the Methuen Senior Center and the Methuen Rainbow Club. She also participated in the Lowell and Lawrence Senior Citizens Centers. She was a loyal parishioner of St. Monica’s Church in Methuen and Mary Queen of Peach Church in Salem, NH.
Ruth loved life. She was an extremely proud, kind, gentle and independent woman with a sharp sense of humor. Ruth enjoyed spending time with her family, bowling until the age of 99 and always looked forward to a gathering where she could be with her family or friends. She was a blessing to all those who knew her.
She was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Harold French and her brother Carl Holstrom.

Calling hours will be Friday, Jan.19 from 3-5 & 7-9PM at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH.
A Funeral Mass will be Saturday, Jan. 20 at 11AM at Mary Queen of Peace Church, Salem, NH. Cremation will follow.
