Annapolis, MD – Joseph W. Cloutier, 95, of Annapolis died on Monday, January 15th.
He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years Rita C. (Doucette) Cloutier. He leaves two daughters Phyllis Gagne of Harrisville, RI and Yvette Garity of Edgewater, MD; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. Mr. Cloutier was born in Woonsocket, RI son of Albert and Marie Anne (Harpin) Cloutier. He is also predeceased by a son Wilfred H. Cloutier, two brothers, Arthur and Victor Cloutier, two sisters Mary Rose Gauthier and Victoria Gagne and four grandchildren.
Mr. Cloutier worked as a linotype operator for the Worcester Telegram & Gazette for 22 years before moving to Maryland. He then worked for the Government Printing Office as a Proofreader and Special Programs Administrator, retiring in 1977.
Mr. Cloutier was a graduate of Worcester Boy’s Trade, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Typographical Union and the Tape Recording & Conversation Club. He spent many years reading for the blind on tape. He also was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church where he was a Lector and served on their Parish Council. Mr. Cloutier was an avid bowler, enjoyed camping and was also a former member of a Round Robin Taping Club.
The funeral will be held on Friday January 19th from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond Street Worcester with a mass at 10AM in Holy Name of Jesus Church 53 Illinois Street Worcester. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery, Webster. Calling hours will be held on Thursday January 18th from 6 to 8 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake 445 Defense Highway Annapolis, MD 21401.
