DIAS- Georgina (Santos) Dias,90, a life long resident of Hanson, died Sunday January 14th, due to complications associated with Alzheimer’s. She was the wife of the late John Dias; mother of John Dias Jr. of Falmouth, Christian Dias of Hanson, Franklin Dias of Fl., David Dias of Brockton, Eugene Dias and Alan Dias both of Halifax, Anita Dias and Nadine Dias both of Seattle, WA., Anna Porter of Pittsburgh, PA., Arlene Dias of Hanson, Donna (Carole) Dias of Taunton and the late Catherine Mitchell, Robert Dias and Arthur Dias; sister of Manuel Santos of NC, Brenda Brown of Bourne, Mary Delgado of Ct, Laura Santos and Dominga Fontes both of Hanson; also survived by thirty-eight grandchildren, forty-nine great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late George Domingo Santos and Ida McCloud.
Georgina was a dedicated matriarch. She was an active member of the community in working at the polls and taking census for the Town of Hanson. She was also a very active member of Our Lady of the Lake Church in Halifax for the last 65 years. She was in the church choir, the Ladies Sodality, the Women’s Guild and participated in the church bazaars.
She was the daughter of the late Tony and Anna (Fernandes) Santos who immigrated here from Fogo, Cape Verde.

Funeral from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street, (Route 58 at the Rotary Circle) Whitman, Saturday January 20th at 8:15 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of The Lake Church, Halifax at 9:00 A.M.. Burial will follow in the St. James Cemetery, Whitman, MA. Visiting hours Friday January 19th 3-8.
