Frank J. Cashman, of Jupiter, FL, Groton Long Point, CT and Mystic, CT died January 15 at the age of 94 in Mystic. Beloved husband for 48 years of the late Madeline (Conway) Cashman, Frank was a native of Northport, NY and attend Mississippi College, where he was a catcher on the varsity baseball team, and St. John’s University.
From 1941-1946 he served in the U.S. Marine Corps, was in the Pacific theater, rose to the rank of Captain and was awarded the bronze star. He worked in the insurance industry for 35 years during which time he founded and served as President of the Frank J. Cashman Agency, was then President of John C. Paige – Cashman Co., Inc. and later became Chairman of Fred S. James of CT.
Frank had been a very active member of the Wampanoag Country Club, West Hartford, CT where he was President from 1966-67, the City Club of Hartford and Jonathan’s Landing Golf Club, Jupiter.
Frank was an enthusiastic reader and student of foreign languages. He was an avid golfer, skier and sailor and skippered his sloop, the “Fracas”, throughout the Long Island Sound waters while a resident of Groton Long Point.
Frank is survived by his beloved children Deidre Kulevich and spouse John of Scituate, MA; F. Jeffrey and spouse Marlea of Silvermine, CT; and Darcie Watson and spouse John of Coral Gables, FL. In addition, Frank is survived by his beloved grandchildren Deirdre, John, Jeffrey, Dixon, Case, Kira and Gillian. Frank is also survived by his sister Elizabeth Hussey of Andover, CT.
His family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Friday from 5-7 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick Church, E. Main Street, Mystic on Saturday at 10am Burial will be private.
