Obituary

John H. "Jack" Warren, 84, of Derry, NH, died Sunday, January 14, 2007 in his home. Mr. Warren was born in Everett, MA on June 7, 1922, a son of the late Michael F. and Margaret U. (Pepper) Warren. He was a resident of Derry since 1980, formerly living in Saugus, MA. Mr. Warren was a graduate of Saugus High School where he had been inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame and later earned his Amateur Golden Gloves in Lowell, MA. He graduated from Boston University with a BS in Business. Mr. Warren was a US Coast Guard WWII veteran. He and his wife owned and operated the Gustafson and Warren Florist, on Main Street in Saugus for 21 years. While operating the floral shop he served as vice president of the Florist Telegraph Delivery. In the years to follow he was employed as a manager with the Beacon Companies. Mr. Warren was a member of the Lion’s Club where he had served as president and King Lion. He also served as a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and a past director for the Beaver Lake Improvement Association. He was an avid deer hunter, enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren, playing golf, yard work, and talking about his family.
He is survived by his wife, Martha (Stowell) Warren of Derry; one daughter, Pamela Scott of Peabody, MA; three sons, John Warren of Simsbury, CT, William Warren of Naples, FL, and Craig Warren of Bangor, ME; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two nieces.
There were no calling hours. Following cremation, a memorial service was held on Thursday, January 18th at 10:00am in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Elliot Hospital Cancer Center, 1 Elliot Way, Manchester, NH 03103.
