Jacquelyn H. Hunt

...former Town Selectman’s secretary; 80

TEWKSBURY - Jacquelyn H. (Hoagland) Hunt, age 80, well known in Tewksbury for herfamily’s Main Street farm stand, died Sunday, Oct. 13, at the Palm Manor Nursing Center inChelmsford. She was the wife of Leo R. Hunt, who died in June 1999.

She was born in Portsmouth, Virginia, April 16, 1922, a daughter of the late E. Murray and MaryAlice (Hodges) Hoagland. She was raised in Virginia, graduated from Maury H.S. in Norfolk,VA, and later graduated from the Banks School of Business in Norfolk in 1942. She lived inTexas and Lowell, before settling in Tewksbury in 1950.

During WWII, she was employed at the Naval Operating Base in Norfolk, VA. She continued hercareer as a secretary for Dr. Risoli, M.D. in Tewksbury in the early 1950's. She was appointed assecretary to the Tewksbury Board of Selectman in 1952, where she served for 12 years. She laterworked for Nogara Investment Co. in Lowell, the Greer Division of Joy Manufacturing inWilmington, and later Finnegan, Nyman and Callery Law Offices in Lowell. In her retirement,along with her family, she operated a local farm stand.

She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen “Kay” Silk and Marsha M. Hunt both of Tewksbury,14 grandchildren, Judy Jennison, Cindy Cormier, Jason, Eric, Scott, and Leo Hunt all of Lowell,Susan McMahon of NH, Kathie Silk-Grassi of Hyannisport, Richard “Rick” Silk of Methuen,Daniel Silk and Christian “Chrissy” Stone both of Tewksbury, Stephen Silk of No. Andover,Kerry Quinn of Tewksbury and Jacquelyn M. McDavid-Myers of San Antonio, TX, 24 greatgrandchildren, cousin Charles O. Haines III, of Virginia Beach, VA, and lifelong friend of Jackie Holly of Norfolk, VA.

She was also mother of the late Leo R. Hunt Jr. who died in 1994.

Her Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 10:00 a.m. in St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St. (Rte 38) Tewksbury. Visitinghours Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 in the funeral home. Interment in Tewksbury Cemetery.
