Mr. Louis A. Mazza, age 73, died at home, Saturday evening, January 13, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Cambridge, Louis has been a Medford resident for the last 60 years. He was the beloved husband of Carol Ann (Cummings) Mazza and loving son of the late Maria (Picariello) and Cosimo Mazza.
Louis was a City of Medford Police Officer for 41 years and retired as a Lieutenant in 1997. A Medford High School graduate of 1951 he joined the United States AirForce during the Korean War Era. He was a member of the Medford DAV, and Knights of Columbus, Medford VFW and the Medford American Legion. Louis most enjoyed spending time with his loving grandchildren after his retirement.
In addition to his wife and parents Louis is survived by his devoted children Susan Salvato and her husband Charles of Medford, Louis A. Mazza Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Virginia Beach, VA, Cosmo Mazza and his wife Janice of Billerica. Loving grandfather to Stephen and Christina Salvato, Daniel, Michael, Alaina, Kasey and Brett Mazza. Loving great grandfather to Brandon Riley, Amanda and Stephen Davis. Brother of Ann Marie Conway and Gloria Moore both of Medford, the late Rose Veno and Camilla Higgins.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD, Wednesday at 10 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High St., Medford at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday 3 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
