Obituary




Richard R.”Dick” Hammond, Sr., 70, died Thursday January 11th in the Kindred Hospital Northeast in Braintree, after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Janice (MacNeill) Hammond of Hanson.

He was the son of the late William G. and Edna (Bartholson) Hammond, Sr.

Dick attended Whitman Schools and has been a resident of Hanson for the last 49 years .He was a machinist for the Progressive Equipment Company and the Independent Nail Company.

He served in the United States Army and the National Guard.

His interests in life were hunting, fishing, land conservation and animal habit preservation.

In addition to his wife Janice ,he is survived by,3 sons and 2 daughters, Richard R .,Jr., Gregory A. ,Scott M. Hammond all of Hanson ,Linda S. Drouin of Halifax and Laura White of Bridgewater, his brother Robert Hammond of Whitman and his sister Frances Hatch, also, 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Monday January 15th at 7:00 P. M. in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Route 58 at the Rotary Circle) Whitman, MA .Burial will be at a later date. Visiting hours Monday January 15th 4-7. Donations may be made in his name to the Land Stamp Fund, Mass. Fisheries & Wildlife, Attention Jason Zimmer, 195 Bourndale Rd., Buzzards Bay, Ma.02532.
