Obituary

LOWELL--Lorraine A. Mulvey, 86 years old, a lifelong resident of Lowell died Wednesday night, January 10th, at Willow Manor Genesis Eldercare, after a short illness.

She was born in Lowell, on March 13, 1920, a daughter of the late Robert T. and Margaret M. (Vallely) Mulvey. She was a graduate of Lowell High School and Bradshaw Business School.

For many years, Miss Mulvey was employed in the business office of The Lowell Sun until her retirement. She was a communicant of St. Margaret’s Church, and held membership in the Blessed Virgin Sodality of that parish.

In her earlier years, she was an avid tennis player and golfer. She enjoyed vacationing at the beaches in New Hampshire and Maine as well as traveling to many different tropical islands. According to family members, she was a devoted aunt who enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by a sister: Mrs. John Blake (M. Roberta) Galvin, Sr. of Lowell; two nieces: her godchild: Roberta M. Keefe, of Lowell; and Suzanne M. Harvey of Beverly, MA; one nephew: John Blake Galvin, Jr., of Lowell; four grandnieces: Kathleen M. Keefe, Kara E. Keefe, Meaghan E. Keefe, and Courtney A. Keefe; and a grandnephew: John Blake (Jack) Galvin, III, all of Lowell.

She was also the sister of the late Bertha ‘Bert’ Mulvey, who died in January, 2004.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM Monday, January 15th, at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, (Rte. 38), Lowell. Her Funeral Mass to be offered Tuesday, January 16th, at 9:30 AM at ST. MARGARET’S CHURCH, Lowell. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery, Lowell.
