Lochmere-Sidney Raymond Blair, 62, of 49 Silver Lake Road died Friday morning, January 12th, 2007 at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Sidney was born in Fort Fairfield, Maine, on May 23rd, 1944, the son of the late Lucien and Angeline (Pelletier) Blair. He has been a resident of Lochmere for the past 15 years coming from Maine.
Prior to his retirement in 1981, Sidney was a SFC with the United States Army working as a tactical communications systems operator and mechanic specializing in teletype repair as well as serving as an instructor. While stationed in Germany he was an inspector, and in his later years was involved in security intelligence. A Vietnam War veteran, Sidney served his country honorably. He was a member of American Legion Post 49 in Tilton, Past Commander of American Legion Post 176 in Eagle Lake, Maine, a member of the Forty and Eight Club, and a former member of the Rod and Gun Club in Eagle Lake Maine. Sidney was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Sidney is predeceased by one grandson, Michael Gonzalez in 1999, and one brother, Ronald Blair in 1961.
Sidney is survived by his wife of 42 years, Inge (Exner) Blair of Lochmere; two sons, Robert R. Blair of East Newport, Maine, and Mark Blair of Lochmere; two daughters, Brigitte Carpenter of Meredith, and Linda A. Gonzalez of Calais, Maine; two brothers, Raynold Blair of Eagle Lake, Maine, and Louis Blair of Culloden, West Virginia; four sisters, Carolyn Ferland of Bristol, Connecticut, Bonnie Steeves of Mapleton, Maine, Arlene Pirro of Bristol, Connecticut, and Donna Hayward of Old Saybrook, Connecticut. Five grandchildren and many niece and nephews also survive Sidney.
There were no visiting hours. Services with Military Honors were held Thursday, January 18th, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery Chapel, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Rte 3, Boscawen, NH. Rev. Michael C. Graham, pastor of Gilford Community Church officiated.
