Carl B. Spivey, 66, of Westport Harbor, died at his home on January 10, 2007, of peritoneal mesothelioma.
He was born, April 26, 1940, in Fall River, MA to Benson and Genevieve (Schlemmer) Spivey.
He graduated from Durfee High School, Fall River, in 1959 and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from UMass, Bradford Durfee Technical Institute, Fall River, in 1963.
As a youngster, he worked in the family’s business, Ben’s Marine Repair in Fall River and developed a lifelong passion for outboard motors and a love for the world of machinery and tools. He was a member of The Antique Outboard Motor Club and The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local Union 1121, Boston, MA and chairman for Boy Scouts, Troop 63 of Westport, MA.
During the Vietnam War era, he specialized in Polaris Submarine Weapons Operation Systems Program with Vitro Corp., Maryland. Throughout his career, he was employed as a supervisor and project manager by New England Power Co., Westinghouse Electric Corp., Vapid & Co. Inc., J/A Jones Construction, PG&E, and, until his death, was employed as a supervisor with Dominion Power New England, Brayton Point Station, Somerset, MA. As Construction Manager, with New England Power Co., Carl took great pride in the completion of the Manchester Street Repowering Project at Point Street, Providence, RI.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce (LaRochelle-Abendroth) Spivey of Westport Harbor, on daughter, Joni Garson of Burleson, Texas, and 3 sons, Benson of Westport, Steven of Dartmouth, and Darren of California; one sister, Ruth White of Westport and 4 grandchildren, Alycia and Brandon Garson of Texas, Grace Spivey of Dartmouth, and Annika Spivey of Westport.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
Services to which relatives and friends are invited will be Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at the Potter funeral Home at 10:00 A.M.

Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
