Eunice May (Taft) White, 92, of Mystic, passed away Wednesday at Mystic Manor.
Mrs. White was born in Groton on May 20, 1914 the daughter of Herbert F. and Elizabeth (Kittredge) Taft. Raised in Groton and Dalton, MA, she was a 1931 graduate of Dalton High School and later attended the University of Massachusetts.
A devoted wife and mother, she was a former Mystic Girl Scouts Troop Leader were she also served on the district committee. She was a member of the National Ski Patrol and was head of the First Aide Dept. of Okemo Mountain for several years.
She was also a former member of St. Mark's Church where she served on the altar guild and was a Sunday school teacher.
Mrs. White summered on Cape Cod with her daughter Katherine for several years, and in later years, traveled extensively with her husband.
She was married to Burton S. White in Groton on January 1, 1937. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last week.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. White is survived by three daughters, Claudia Gilmartin of Berwick, ME, Susan White of Utah, and Katherine Sonnenburg of Ledyard; a sister, Phyllis T. Burd of Washington, NJ; 7 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her siblings, Elizabeth Gale, Edith Curtin, and Robert Taft.
The White family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Saturday from 9 -9:45am, followed by a service at 10am.
