WORCESTER-SPC Wayne J. Webb, 22, of 33 Westview Road, died Friday, January 5th, in Germany, from injuries sustained in an accident. He leaves his parents Larry F. and Sandy E. (Wells) Webb; a brother, Christopher F. Webb; a sister, Denise R. Webb; his maternal grandparents, Ivory and Luella Wells; his paternal grandfather, Floyd L. Fisher, all of Worcester; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. His paternal grandmother, Willie Mae Simmons predeceased him.
He was born in Worcester and was a standout athlete at Doherty Memorial High School, where he played football, basketball and track, until graduating in 2003. Wayne was a member and usher of John Street Baptist Church and was active in its children’s church and volunteered with its soup kitchen. He also volunteered with the Boys & Girls Club. SPC Webb was enlisted in the U.S. Army and was currently serving in Germany. He was an extraordinary young man who loved music, dancing, his family, and his Lord. While in Germany he enjoyed traveling throughout Europe.
The funeral is Monday, January 15th, with a service at 10:00 A.M. in John Street Baptist Church, 41 John Street. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
