SALEM - Marie A. Cote, 60, wife of Norman S. Burnett, of Salem, died Friday morning, January 5, 2007, at her home following a long illness.
Born in Canada, she was the daughter of the late Sylvio and Lorette (Daigle) Cote and was raised and educated in Madawaska, Maine. She has been a resident of Salem for over 40 years.
Marie was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse for the past 20 years for The Salem VNA, which then became Partners Healthcare. For many years she did outreach work at the Salem Council on Aging as well as at the Salem Mission. She previously worked as an LPN at Salem Hospital for 20 years.
Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Michelle Cote of Salem, one grandchild, David M. Cote of Salem, Norman’s other 3 children, David Burnett, of Danvers, whom she looked upon as her son, Norman Burnett Jr. and his wife Jennifer and their family of Beverly, Matthew Burnett of Salem, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother, Raymond Cote and one sister, Eleanor Crouch.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 13, 2006 at 11 am at the A.O.H. Hall, 104 Boston St., Salem. A collation and sharing with family will be held immediately following the service.
