Salem: Rose A. Dumas age 97 of Salem, died Tuesday morning at the Essex Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Beverly.
Born and raised in St. Ludger, P.Q. Canada, she was the daughter of the late Alcidas and Marie (Lacroix) Dumas. In 1938 She moved to Salem and first worked in the former Pequot Mills of Salem. She left the mills in the late 1940’s to work for the former CBS Hytron in Danvers. She retired in 1976 from Unitrode when the company was located in Salem
Rose was an active member of the former St. Joseph Parish and member of the Congregation Marie Reine des Apotres. She also volunteered for the St. Theresa Thrift Shop at St. Joseph Church.
Rose is survived by several nieces and nephews in Canada and many grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins, including: Claudette Jalbert and Constance Dumas both of Salem. She was predeceased by her brother Armand Dumas and 3 sisters: Eveline Ruel, Aurore Faucher and Jeanne Begin.
Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral on Friday, January 12, 2007 at 9 am from the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St., [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem followed by her funeral mass in St. James Chapel, Federal St., Salem at 10 am. Visiting hours: Thursday 4 to 8 pm. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to St. James Parish, 161 Federal St., Salem, 01970.
