Obituary

WORCESTER-Evangelos D. Lalos, 88, died Monday, January 8th in his home. He leaves his loving wife of 58 years, Efthalia (Vougidis) Lalos, 3 sons, Sotirios “Sam” E. Lalos, Peter E. Lalos, Christos E. and his wife, Vicki Lalos all of Worcester; 2 brothers, Constantinos D. and Theodosios D. Lalos, a sister, Eftihia Poulias all of Worcester; 4 grandchildren, Evan, Leah, Gregory and Joseph Lalos, several nephews, nieces, grand nephews and grand nieces. A brother, Elias Lallos predeceased him.

He was born in Yeromeri, Eperos, Greece, the son of Donatos S. and Despina (Sotiriou) Lalos. Mr. Lalos served in the Greek Army during the Second World War and the subsequent resistance and civil war in Greece. He and his family immigrated to the United States in 1954. He excelled as a tool and die maker and businessman. He founded two companies, LBL Tool & Die and ANC Tool & Mfg. During retirement, he enjoyed frequent trips to Greece. He was to the end a robust handy man and had a lifelong love for gardening. Mr. Lalos was a devoted husband and father and took great joy and pride in his grandchildren. He had a profound love and appreciation for his adopted country, the United States and for the county of his birth. Mr. Lalos was member of St. Spryidon Greek Orthodox Cathedral and its Senior Citizen’s.

The funeral is Thursday, January, 11th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a service at 11:00 AM in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday, January 10th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
